This page explains what personal data The Story Society collects, why, and what rights you have over it. We keep this simple on purpose: right now, the only thing we collect is an email address, and only if you choose to give it to us.

Who is responsible for your data

What we collect

When you sign up for our newsletter, we collect:

• Your email address
• The date and time you signed up, and confirmation that you agreed to receive emails (kept as proof of consent)

We don't collect names, phone numbers, or any other personal details through this form, and this site has no online shop or payment processing at this stage.

Why we collect it, and our legal basis

We use your email address to send you updates about The Story Society — opening progress, events, book club news, and our crowdfunding campaign. The legal basis for this is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given when you tick the checkbox and submit the form. You can withdraw this consent at any time, and doing so won't affect the lawfulness of anything done before you withdrew it.

Where your data is stored

Email addresses are stored with [name of your email service provider, e.g. MailerLite / Brevo], a third-party email service provider that sends our newsletter on our behalf. We have a data processing agreement in place with them, and they act as our data processor under GDPR. You can read their own privacy policy at [provider privacy policy link].

How long we keep it

We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until we stop running this newsletter — whichever happens first. You can unsubscribe using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Restrict or object to how we process your data
• Receive your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time
• Lodge a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.cz), the supervisory authority for data protection in the Czech Republic
